Driving Force by Kate Angelo is part of a new series published by Sunrise Publishing. Kate Angelo, mentored by Lynette Eason, offers the first installment for the Elite Guardians Collection that is a spinoff of Eason’s Elite Guardians series. If you’ve read the series, you’ll recognize some of the characters in this new novel.
What I Liked About Driving Force
I’m a fan of romantic suspense because it lets me play detective for a few hours, and I start trying to figure out who’s the bad guy right from the start. The unique twist about this suspense-filled story is the heroine. A new member of Elite Guardians, Christiana Sherman is well-equipped to provide personal protection. But dog guarding isn’t what she expected. It adds a bit of humor as well to think an ex-Army Special Ops sniper is guarding a dog. Boss is one special dog and if you love dogs like I do, you’ll enjoy the scenes with Boss.
The hero, Grey Parker, is a person with a disability. He’s a former Special Forces Air Commando who had his career cut short when he was injured with a nerve agent that left him in a wheelchair. This isn’t the normal hero in a book and was a refreshing plot line.
Who Will Like Driving Force?
If you like strong, smart female characters, you’ll like Christina. If you find stories involving veterans interesting, then you’ll like Grey and his storyline. Animal lovers, especially dog lovers, will find the Boss scenes much to their liking. And finally, if you’re a Lynette Eason romantic suspense fan, you’ll enjoy this story.
Final Thoughts
There’s a lot of action in Driving Force, and the plot line about a deadly toxin is both interesting and terrifying given the current world situation.
Angelo has truly captured the essence of the original series and did a first-rate job on the story. I’m hoping this will be the start of a long writing career for her.
I figured out who the bad guy was early in the book, but I like to tell myself it’s because I’m extremely brilliant at recognizing the clues. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the book and didn’t know until the end that I was, in fact, correct.
It’s a clean, entertaining, suspenseful, and faith-filled book that you’ll enjoy reading.
It’s important to support authors by buying their books, so even though I received an advance copy for review, I have pre-ordered the e-book.
