Impending Strike by Sami Abrams and Lynette Eason is the second installment in the Elite Guardians Collection. Abrams gives us Charlie Lee and Lizzie Tremaine’s story and what a story it is.
What I Liked About Impending Strike
First, I say this a lot, but characters make the story. Charlie and Lizzie are great together. I loved the tension between them as they battled to keep their feelings for each other in check. Charlie, somewhat of a jokester, showed a tender side that made me love him more and more as the story unfolded. And Lizzie, bless her heart, had such an incredible back story that I wanted to see her get a happily-ever-after.
Second, the mystery kept me guessing all the way to the end. I pride myself on my abilities to solve these crimes, but I didn’t even consider who turned out to be the villain. Kudos for that!!
Third, I so liked that Lizzie was always learning something new. It made her a very interesting character and left me hoping that in future books someone will mention something new she’s learning. And her latest skill does come in handy.
Finally, there’s action galore. Just when I started to settle down, the intensity would kick right back up.
What You’ll Like About Impending Strike
This is a romantic suspense, so there is romance along with the mystery. The romantic scenes were tender and gave me all the right feels. The action will satisfy any action lover. And, if you’re a super sleuth, it’s possible you’ll figure out the bad guy. But I think most people will be surprised. Let me know if I’m wrong.
Final Thoughts
I think Abrams did a bang-up job and I look forward to reading more by her.
