Deception by Lisa Harris is the fourth installment in the Fallout Series. Wow! The action starts on page one and keeps you turning pages until you reach the end. This is another superb story in this most excellent series.

What I Liked About Deception

I absolutely love the overall story line. The grid has gone down, and lawlessness abounds. I know this is a work of fiction, but I think Harris paints an accurate picture of how society would spiral if the grid went down for an extended period of time. It seems very realistic and frightening.

I liked the hero, Sam McQuaid. An honorable man, he wanted to protect the group of people in his caravan and took personal responsibility when things went wrong. The heroine, Sheriff Rebecca Holt was strong and independent, but had a wounded heart that needed mending. Together, they worked.

A mysterious group called The Realm appears to be behind all that has happened so far and it’s clear their intent is evil. A little more about the group is revealed with each installment, and I am anxious to learn what their purpose is.

What You’ll Like About Deception

If you enjoy post-apocalyptic stories, you’ll find this intriguing. The good guys are easy to identify, but no one knows who the bad guys are until they show up to do something terrible.

Deception is definitely a good versus evil book, and you’ll enjoy it if you like to see the underdog win.

Finally, if you like stories with a clear faith element, then this is the book for you.

Final Thoughts

As with the three previous books, the action is practically nonstop. The characters have to use their ingenuity to accomplish simple tasks and, in my opinion, offer great tips should we find ourselves in a similar situation. The whole premise intrigues me and makes me think about how I’d survive if the grid went down. Each book I finish makes me want to become a prepper.

Deception is a quick read that has a few surprises.
