A Seaside Wonder by Melissa Tagg is the second installment in the Muir Harbor series. It’s a mixture of laugh out loud moments and super serious topics that intermingle in a realistic fashion – like life. I’ve looked forward to this story and I wasn’t disappointed.
What I Liked About A Seaside Wonder
I thoroughly enjoyed Philip West and Indi Muir. They were quirky, funny characters that I knew belonged together right from the start. And Philip was so adorable when he got flustered, which happened quite often.
Philip and Indi had experienced life changing tragedies and much of the story dealt with how they worked through the events that had impacted their lives and damaged important relationships. I particularly enjoyed Philip’s interaction with his half-sister Holland. When the story begins Holland and Philip have a strained relationship and watching them work through the issues that drove a wedge between them was a beautiful thing to see.
One final thing I enjoyed about A Seaside Wonder was the mystery within the mystery. If you’ve read book one, you know Maggie Muir has been searching for her granddaughter for years. That is the overarching mystery that has yet to be solved. But there is a related mystery that had me guessing throughout and, I will admit, I didn’t suspect the person who turned out to be the villain.
What You’ll Like About A Seaside Wonder
If you’re a Melissa Tagg fan, you’ll like this book. Tagg is a master at writing stories that tug at your heart and interjects just the right amount of humor to lighten the mood, so readers don’t get overwhelmed by the seriousness of the subject.
If you like a mystery, then you should enjoy this story. But, of course, you won’t yet know what happened with the granddaughter.
Final Thoughts
A Seaside Wonder is a delightful story that pulls you in and keeps you engaged from start to finish. I received an advance read copy through Netgalley, but intend to purchase the paperback version as soon as it is available.
