Grace Under Pressure by John Baldoni is another take on principles most leaders will have familiarity. Baldoni looks at values, resilience, building community, adversity, and empathy which have been extensively covered in multiple ways over the last twenty years. However, Baldoni also looks at grief, a topic not often discussed in leadership books.
What I Liked About Grace Under Pressure by John Baldoni
Grace Under Pressure is a quick read. Laid out in a concise manner, most readers can finish the book in less than a day.
Baldoni has divided the book into four sections that forms the backbone for how leaders can build successful organizations. Leaders must take care of their people. Then leaders must take care of themselves. After that, leaders must prepare for the future. And finally, leaders must lead with grace under pressure.
Almost every chapter ends with a few reflection questions so readers can assess how well they are performing in a particular leadership area.

Final Thoughts
If you’ve spent any time learning about leadership, you’ll most likely see Grace Under Pressure as a quick review.
I wanted to really like this book. The topic is fascinating and while I would say Baldoni does a thorough job, I also believe the slant toward a particular political party will turn off many readers. This is unfortunate and rather disappointing. Baldoni, of course, has every right to highlight a political party if he so chooses, but if people don’t share his political viewpoint, they may decide early on to set this book aside.
