Iris by Susan May Warren is book four in the Minnesota Marshalls series. Iris is the only girl in the Marshall family and her brothers might be a tad over-protective, but Iris has another protector in Hudson Bly.
What I Liked About Iris by Susan May Warren
I liked the hero. We met Hudson in the previous book and all I can think of when he’s on the page is Chris Hemsworth. Yep, Hudson is an Aussie who looks like Hemsworth. Not a bad picture to have in your mind at all. Hudson has a thing for Iris, and he’ll do just about anything to keep her safe.
Iris is a strong female character that came across tough in Ned, but we get to see her softer side in this story. She’s trying to fit into a male-dominated profession and doesn’t readily accept Hudson’s or her brothers’ help.
Finally, Iris contains action and mystery, but readers must wait for the final installment to get answers. Something is happening to the coaches and a bad girl from the past makes an appearance.
What You’ll Like About Iris
If you’re enjoying the Minnesota Marshalls so far, you’ll enjoy this novel. Warren introduces a new story thread involving the parents, so if you’re curious about mom and dad, you’ll get a glimpse at their lives.
Obviously if you like action, you’ll find it in Iris. It wouldn’t be a Susan May Warren book if the hero and heroine didn’t narrowly escape multiple attempts on their lives.
Iris has a strong faith element revealed in Jenny’s thread.
Final Thoughts
I enjoyed Iris, perhaps because of Hudson, but I liked Iris as a character. My interest wasn’t only super hunk related. As the overarching story is winding down, it’s interesting to see how everything from Fraser all the way to Creed ties together. I’m looking forward to seeing how Warren brings this epic adventure to a conclusion.
I received an advance reader copy for review, but I’ll be ordering the paperback as soon as it’s available. For more reviews, check out my blog.
