The Juliet Code by Pepper Basham is the latest Freddie and Grace adventure. Oh, how I love this couple. Once again Basham created a thoroughly intriguing mystery with this delightful hero and heroine.
What I liked About The Juliet Code by Pepper Basham
This series is one of the most refreshing I’ve read and this installment doesn’t disappoint. Grace is a character you can’t help but love and so many of her scenes will make you laugh out loud. In this book, readers get to see a softer Freddie, which makes him all the more endearing. And, Jack, with his tortured past, is a character you want to see get a happily ever after.
Basham starts off with action, which doesn’t let up until the final chapter. She definitely shows she has talent for romantic suspense.
I found the faith element especially encouraging—how as Christians we should act boldly. Whether we live or die, we’re secure in Christ and He’s there to see us through.
What You’ll Like About The Juliet Code
It goes without saying, if you enjoy Pepper Basham books, you’ll like this one. She is a master story teller in my opinion and knows how to use humor to the best advantage.
Her faith shines through without being preachy and fits the characters so beautifully.
Finally, if you like a good mystery, you won’t be disappointed in The Juliet Code. There are hints throughout, but for me they didn’t give away the villains.
Final Thoughts
I hope this will not be the last Freddie and Grace story. I don’t know of any other series that has me wondering how the good guys will get out of their latest predicament and in the next scene laughing out loud at the methods they use to escape.
I love how Freddie has changed throughout the series. And, while Grace is catching on to the rules of how a proper countess should act, she is still so wonderfully American.
