Jack by Susan May Warren is the first in Warren’s new romantic suspense series. Five novels following the Minnesota Kingston family will release throughout 2025.
What I Liked About Jack by Susan May Warren
Jack kicks off as the Kingston siblings return home for their sister’s wedding. We met Boo in the previous Alaska Air Rescue series, that was released in 2024. Boo has five siblings: Jack, Conrad, Doyle, Austen, and Steinbeck. Whew!
Jack focuses on Jack and an old flame, Harper. They had an embarrassing encounter ten years earlier and neither wants to see each other. As you might guess, they are paired for the wedding festivities. But they end up working together to find a bridesmaid that goes missing. This is where the action starts.
I liked Jack and Harper. They had great chemistry, and readers will want to see them get their happily ever after.
What You’ll Like About Jack
If you like stories with family dynamics, you’ll like this novel. Jack carries unnecessary guilt, and his healing through a lot of loving kindness is a joy to experience. Redemption stories are always a top favorite of mine.
Harper is a powerful female who has the wits to take care of herself. Still, she doesn’t shun Jack’s protectiveness. I liked that about her.
The suspense is good and not over the top. You’ll be guessing until the end about the bad guy’s identity. At least, I was.
Finally, the romance is sweet with just the right amount of sizzle to keep readers interested in the couple but crosses no lines.
Final Thoughts
I enjoyed this first book and look forward to reading the rest. I wished I’d made a character chart, because there are many people introduced who you’ll see again. This is a series, so be aware that Warren introduces a few mysteries that aren’t resolved in this story. Also, you’ll see a few characters from previous novels, which feels a little like seeing old friends.
