Austen by Susan May Warren

Austen by Susan May Warren is a nonstop action-packed novel that is Susan May Warren’s forte. Really, she writes everything well, but I wanted to use the word forte.

What I Liked About Austen by Susan May Warren

I’ve liked every book so far in this series, and Austen is no exception. She’s smart, resourceful, and wounded. Her love interest, Declan Stone, is a bit of a mystery. Is he a terrorist, philanthropist, or both? You’ll find out when you read this novel.

This adventure is a high-seas, high-stake story. When a shell-game goes south, Declan and Austen are swept up in an adventure that spans multiple islands. The action is intense, and readers barely have time to catch their breaths before something else threatens the hero and heroine.

If you’ve read the previous books, you know Phoenix, the black swan, who is on a mission to prove Declan is a terrorist. She’s convinced Steinbeck, Austen’s brother and Declan’s former bodyguard, that Stone is a bad guy. Stone is a man with a past and part of the fun of this book is seeing his story unravel.

What You’ll Like About Austen

It’s silly to state it, but if you like the series so far, this story will not disappoint. The romance is well done—a few kisses and nothing more. You don’t have to worry if you’re not into steamy scenes, even clean ones.

Everything has been building for the conclusion with Steinbeck and Phoenix, and I’m looking forward to getting their story. Phoenix is a pleasant addition because she is so determined to prove Stone is a villain.

You will know who the bad guys are right from the beginning, but you won’t know Austen’s and Declan’s deep wounds until the end of the book. The action drives this story and is nonstop. The faith message is really nice. I think more subtle than other SMW books, but a truth many of us may need to be reminded about God’s love for us.

Final Thoughts

Austen is a top-notch novel that will entertain you. You’ll find humor, romance, and action all rolled into a super story.
