Steinbeck by Susan May Warren

Steinbeck by Susan May Warren is the riveting conclusion to the Minnesota Kingstons series. The action spans multiple countries, and you’ll keep turning the page to see what happens next.

What I Liked About Steinbeck by Susan May Warren

Emberly, aka Phoenix, is one of the most intriguing characters. Warren often has one character that you want to know more about (York and Judah), and Phoenix is one of those people. She’s a black swan, a spy/thief/whatever else her organization needs her to be. She’s strong and capable but needs help. Enter Steinbeck. You’ll know what Phoenix is trying to accomplish if you’ve read the other books in the series.

Steinbeck is tough but tender, and despite some not so pleasant encounters with Phoenix, he is smitten and determined to keep her safe. Together they make a formidable team.

The story is fast-paced, full of action, has a sweet romance, and even brings back one of those intriguing characters mentioned above. I still want Judah to have his own story.

What You’ll Like About Steinbeck

If you’ve made it to book five, you’re invested, and you’ll find the conclusion very satisfying. You’ll be anxious for the hero and heroine as they’re thrust into one harrowing experience after another.

You’ll see the other siblings, but Jack and Harper play a more prominent role in this story. This was nice since Jack is the book that kicked off the series.

Finally, part of the enjoyment of this story is seeing how Phoenix and Steinbeck overcome their wounds. The faith element is there and plays an important role in Phoenix’s healing.

Final Thoughts

I don’t know how she does it, but Warren can create one suspenseful story after another. One of the greatest villains she’s created resurfaces in this story. I’ve heard there is a series in the making where he will return. Will this dastardly man finally get what is coming to him?

Steinbeck will entertain and leave you satisfied that all is right in the Minnesota Kingstons’s world.
