Rescued Dreams by Lisa Phillips is book eight in the Last Chance Fire and Rescue series. As with previous books, there is nonstop action and suspense in this story.
What I liked about Rescued Dreams by Lisa Phillips
The hero made the story for me. Ridge Foster cares about people and will sacrifice to take care of those whom he loves. For a good portion of the story, he has an unrequited love for Amelia Patterson. Amelia is tough. She has a past she wants to stay hidden, but everything eventually comes to light, and her past comes back to haunt her.
Ridge was a sympathetic character throughout. As the guardian of his twin sisters, he would do anything to provide a safe, loving environment for them—even so far as to sacrifice his own dreams to make theirs come true. Amelia took some getting used to. Of course, you’ll understand why she has a hard shell as the story unfolds. So don’t give up on her too soon. Amelia had no family, in sharp contrast to Ridge, who had an awesome cousin who proved to be a lifesaver.
The villain in this story was relentless and a total sociopath. For a good portion of the story, readers won’t be sure who the bad guy really is, but when he’s revealed, if you’re like me, you’ll be waiting for him to face justice.
What You’ll Like About Rescued Dreams
If you’ve made it to book eight in the series, you’ll enjoy this installment. It has all the tension and romance elements you expect from Lisa Phillips.
Action and danger are at the forefront throughout the book. You hardly get a breather before something worse happens to the characters.
Finally, there is a faith element that runs throughout, and for Amelia it is life-changing.
Final Thoughts
The story is fast-paced with a slow-burn romance. Characters from previous books make cameo appearances and give readers a chance to get caught up on the latest in their lives.
