Conrad by Susan May Warren is the second novel in the Minnesota Kingstons’ series. As the title suggests, this story focuses on Conrad Kingston.
What I Like About Conrad by Susan May Warren
If the story features hockey, I’m all in. It’s my favorite team sport and Warren’s descriptions of the game are spot on. I could see all the action.
I liked both of the main characters, Conrad and Penelope “Penny” Pepper. But Conrad was my favorite of the two. His interest in Penny always seemed genuine, even if he initially wanted to avoid a relationship. I like Penny because she was strong and smart. She kept her wits about her and never came across as a helpless female. Yes, she needed help at the end. Still, I think she would have figured out a way to save herself.
Jack, the first book in the series, introduced the mystery/suspense thread, which was wrapped up in Conrad. I didn’t know for sure who the villain was until the end, but I had suspected who might be involved.
What You’ll Like About Conrad
If you’re a Susan May Warren fan, you know what to expect from one of her books. Once again, she has delivered. You’ll find the strong family interaction, a tender romance, and action and suspense. You’ll be guessing about what will happen next.
As always, you’ll find a strong faith element. She’s scattered important biblical truths throughout. I appreciate she shares the love of Jesus in her books. That is the light that always shines in the darkness.
Final Thoughts
While the Penelope mystery wraps up in Conrad, the other mystery thread that ultimately will focus on Stein continues. Warren is building the intrigue with each book, and I’m eager to see how she will bring it all together in the end. For readers, it will probably make the most sense if you read the books in order.
