Expired Hope by Megan Besing

Expired Hope by Megan Besing and Lisa Phillips is a new installment in the Last Chance Fire and Rescue Series from Sunrise Publishing.

What I Liked About Expired Hope by Megan Besing

I especially liked the hero, Macon James. He’s carrying a lot of baggage and knows some of the townspeople aren’t happy he’s the fire chief. Macon’s faced with personnel issues and personal issues that at times seem to conspire to ruin his career, but he doesn’t give up. He’s tenacious and caring even if he comes across as gruff sometimes with his staff. The heroine Natalie Atkinson is an interesting character. She’s tough and smart, but she like the hero carries a lot of guilt.

I also enjoyed Amelia Patterson. At first you may think she’s got a chip on her shoulder, but as the story progresses, readers will begin to see her in a more favorable light. She’s strong, smart, and dedicated.

Readers will get a chance to revisit some of the characters from the first book, which I always like. I’m curious to see if any of the secondary characters will get their own stories in the future.

Since Expired Hope is a Sunrise Publishing release, I knew there would be a strong faith element and there is. For me, the authors showed us how we don’t have to carry around guilt over our not so great past. We have a Savior who wiped our past, present, and future clean. But we, like the characters in the book, have to release it to God and He will set us free.

What You’ll Like About Expired Hope

There is plenty of suspense and action, which is well done. Still, I think it’s more of a character-driven plot, so if you like that type of book, you’ll enjoy Expired Hope.

The faith element is important in this story, but it isn’t over the top either. So, if you aren’t into preachy stories, you’ll find this a perfect read.

Final Thoughts

Megan Besing is a new author for me, and I think she’s done a great job with Lisa as her mentor. I will read more books by her.
