Expired Promise by Emilie Haney and Lisa Phillips is the latest release in the Last Chance County Series. If you’ve read the first two books, you’ll see some familiar characters and get caught up on what’s happening in their lives.
What I Liked About Expired Promise by Emilie Haney
Expired Promise opens with an intense special operations assignment that turns deadly. Readers meet Jude Brooks at first and you’ll quickly learn he assumes responsibility for things that aren’t necessarily in his control. A theme you’ll see throughout the story. I liked Jude and was happy when he finally realized God could carry some of his load for him.
Andi Crawford is a new firefighter out to prove she’s capable. In many ways I could identify with her. Striving to prove her worth, she doesn’t always focus on what she does best. One of the nice things about the book was watching her grow and come to realize where she could best serve her community. Jude and Andi had chemistry and I enjoyed how they interacted and how their romance blossomed again.
What You’ll Like About Expired Promise
Expired Promise has a lot of action that will keep you engaged. There’s a little surprise at the end that you may start to figure out, but I wasn’t sure until it was completely revealed.
There is a strong faith message without being preachy, so if you are looking for a solid Christian read, you’ll find it here.
Final Thoughts
This is the first novel I’ve read by Emilie Haney, and I would read other stories by her. It’s always fun finding new authors and Sunrise Publishing is making it possible for many new authors to see publication. You wouldn’t have to read the other books in the series first. But characters from past stories pop up in this novel. You’ll be more familiar with how they fit into the big picture if you read the books in order.
I received an advanced reader copy for review; however, I’ve ordered the e-book. For more reviews, visit my blog.
