Frequency by Lisa Harris is the latest installment in the Fallout series, and it’s my favorite so far. I’ve liked the three previous books, but this one had all the right ingredients for me. The Grid is still down but, in this book, we get a glimpse of just how widespread the disaster is.
What I Liked About Frequency
I really liked the characters in this one. Tess McQuaid had just the right amount of sensitivity and spunk to make her a character you could cheer on when mayhem hit. Kellan Gray is the perfect hero. He has integrity as well as smarts, and his love of Tess is so tender.
Frequency focuses on two crimes. The first is the murder of an FBI agent. Before, the agent dies, he is able to tell Kellan about a mysterious group called “The Realm.” Another agent has a flash drive that contains the names of members of The Realm and FBI agents who have infiltrated this evil group. The second crime is what looks like an intentional sabotage of the water supply. Residents are dying from arsenic poisoning, which is terrifying since no municipal water is available.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous review, there are some great tips on how to prepare for a disaster like the Grid failing. I learned a little more in this book. I think Harris has done an exceptional job of showing how people can come together to survive a catastrophe like this. She also shows how there will be some people who will only be worried about themselves and will stop at nothing to ensure their survival.
What You’ll Like About Frequency
If you like a book with action and great chemistry between the characters, you’ll like Frequency.
Everything that happens in this book seems very realistic, so if you enjoy books that seem like the things in it could happen, you’ll find this to your liking.
Finally, if you like books about the end of society as we know it, then this will be a book you’ll enjoy.
Final Thoughts
This is a fascinating series that is informative and entertaining. Frequency is a fast read. Once I started, I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished it. Nothing is over the top, and so much of it makes me really think – what would I do if the Grid went down?
I think it’s a five star read that you don’t want to miss.
