Jonas by Susan May Warren is the second installment in her new series The Minnesota Marshalls. As you might expect, there’s action and romance that will please any romantic suspense fan.
What I Liked About Jonas
I’m a bit of a weather geek, so the fact Jonas is a storm chaser hooked me right from the beginning. His love interest, Sibba, is an EOD expert, which offered a few breath-holding moments.
Set in Slovenia, Warren’s descriptions brought the countryside alive. I could see the beauty of the mountains and feel the danger of them too.
I liked Jonas and Sibba. They were interesting characters and they had great chemistry.
The action/suspense in Jonas never seemed over the top. Maybe it’s because of current political tensions, but the catastrophe was something I could see happening. It felt real and a little scary. I’ll never look at a balloon in the same way again.
What You’ll Like About Jonas
If you like clean romance with a little sizzle, you’ll enjoy this book. Warren is a master at capturing just the right amount of physical attraction while never crossing the line.
Action lovers will find plenty of it and several scenes will put you on the edge of your seat. I wanted to keep turning the pages to see what happened next.
Finally, as always, there is a solid faith message for fans of Christian fiction.
Final Thoughts
I’m not sure how Warren is able to weave all her characters together, but she does it expertly. Readers will see a few favorites from past novels. For me, it’s kind of like hearing from old friends that you haven’t seen for a while. Always a joy to see how they’re doing.
I highly recommend Jonas. Jonas is the second book in the series and while you could read it before Fraser, I’d encourage you read them in order. I received an advance read copy, but I’ll be ordering the paperback to add to my SMW collection. I’m going to need a designated bookcase to hold all her novels before long.
