Meet Me at The Christmas Cottage by Christen Krumm will put you in the mood for the holidays on quaint Jonathon Island.
What I Liked About Meet Me at The Christmas Cottage by Christen Krumm
I expected to like this story because I’ve enjoyed all the novels in this series so far. This installment didn’t disappoint. Of late, it seems I can relate to the characters way too much. Bronte Parker is the author of a bestselling series and is writing the last book in the series. There is only one problem, though. She has writer’s block. Wow, how I can relate to that. Jonah White is an army surgeon who has returned to the island to take over his dad’s medical practice. A practice he doesn’t want to run. The characters have a lot of internal conflict they must work out, which is my favorite type of story.
Bronte has no family and hasn’t had the best life. She’s never had a real Christmas. I pulled for her throughout the story with a genuine hope for her to find a true sense of belonging. I could relate to Jonah in his struggle to fulfill an obligation while his heart yearned to follow a different dream.
I thought the characters worked well with each other. Their romance developed quickly because of their close proximity, but as a romance reader, I expect most stories to have a bit of an instant love storyline.
What You’ll Like About Meet Me at The Christmas Cottage
If you enjoy stories where the main character is looking for home, you’ll enjoy this story. Bronte needs to know what it is like to be loved and to believe she matters.
For readers who have followed paths out of a sense of duty, this story will resonate. It’s human nature to want to feel alive in our profession, and Jonah’s dilemma felt real.
There is a nice faith element without an in-your-face approach.
Final Thoughts
While this book releases in September, you can kick off the Christmas season early. After all, Walmart probably has decorations out. And if you only read Christmas books around the holidays, just put it aside until the appropriate time for you. You’ll be glad you did.
