One Last Chance by Susan May Warren is book two in the Alaska Air One Rescue series. This story offers quite an adventure and focuses on Axel Mulligan and Flynn Turnquist.
What I Liked About One Last Chance by Susan May Warren
I liked Axel and Flynn. From the moment Flynn picks up Axel’s radio SOS, the chemistry between them kept getting better and better. They worked well together as they searched for Flynn’s missing sister and the infamous Midnight Sun serial killer.
Flynn, a cop trained to get inside the heads of serial killers, was a strong female character that could take care of herself. But she didn’t do stupid things to prove she could handle every situation. She had common sense and let Axel help her. Axel had to overcome a tragedy from his past that made him a bit of a daredevil but his selflessness in putting others before his own safety touched me.
One of my favorite parts of the book was an appearance by Eve and Rembrandt Stone from a previous series. I loved the Stone series and got a kick out of seeing two of my favorite characters of all time once again.
What You’ll Like About One Last Chance
If you’re into suspense, you’ll like this story. Axel gets into many harrowing situations that kept me fully engaged. When the serial killer comes after Flynn and Axel, it’s a great chase through the Alaskan wilderness.
Warren does a great job of describing Alaska so that someone like me who has never been there can visualize how amazing it must really be.
Finally, there is romance, and Warren is a master at creating just the right amount of sizzle without going too far.
Final Thoughts
One Last Chance could be read before the first book, but there is a story involving Moose, Axel’s brother, that began in One Last Shot and continues in this one. There is a faith element that all of us who read Warren’s books expect to see. The story kept me guessing, and I had a hard time putting it down. It’s definitely a super read.
