Sundown by Susan May Warren

October 23, 2022 | Book Reviews

Sundown by Susan May Warren is the finale in the Sky King Ranch Series and focuses on Colt Kingston and Taylor “Tae” Price. However, Ranger and Noemi from Sunburst are prominent characters along with Dodge Kingston. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, but this one might be my favorite.

What I Liked About Sundown

Sundown reunited a number of characters from previous Susan May Warren books and I liked seeing these people again. That’s one of my favorite things about Warren’s stories – readers get a chance to catch up with their favorite characters.

Second, I came to love all of the Kingston brothers during this book. In Sunrise, I found Dodge to be too hard, but he really has softened over the course of the series. Ranger and Noemi will always be two of my favorites, so I was glad to see them play a big role in this installment.

Third, I loved Colt. His tortured soul tugged at my heartstrings, and I longed for him to find his redemption. Taylor was a great match for him and the demons that plagued her seemed very real. They had chemistry that worked.

What You’ll Like About Sundown

If you enjoyed the first two books, then you will not be disappointed with Sundown

If you’re an action person, you’ll find plenty of it in this book. Warren is a master at getting her characters into predicaments that so often end with a shootout or something blowing up.

Finally, if you enjoy evil terrorist plots as a driving force for the story, then the villains in Sundown will satisfy you.

Final Thoughts

The mystery disease that killed the villagers in Sunburst is finally revealed. It’s creepy because it feels so real. I’m probably paranoid, but I could see this sort of thing happening in today’s world.

There’s a great faith message and the romance is just right. Sundown is an action-packed book that will keep you turning the pages. And it introduces some characters I hope we’ll see in future books. I want Roy to have a story.

Because there is an over-arching mystery, you do need to read the books in order. I received an advance reader copy for review, but I’ve ordered the paperback for my personal SMW collection. For more book reviews, visit my blog.
