The Cinderella Plot by Pepper Basham is so much fun. Basham is one of my favorite authors, and I have yet to find one story she’s written that I didn’t like. She has a gift, and this latest story geared for young adults is delightful.
What I Liked About The Cinderella Plot by Pepper Basham
This story may have hit a little too close to home. I, like Paisley Harper, wanted to be noticed in high school. I had great friends, but we were not part of the “in-crowd.” It was easy to relate to the main character because I knew her struggles. I could feel her pain and sympathize with her.
Chris Benson, the hero in this story, is the best sort of fellow. I felt his pain too because I had experienced that as well. Chris just wanted Paisley to see him as more than her best friend. His devotion to her and his ability to see her as a prize will touch even the hardest heart.
When Paisley finds The Cinderella Plot on her aunt and uncle’s bookstore shelf, she buys into the idea that following the advice in the book will transform her life. At first, it seems like she’s going to get everything she always wanted. But sometimes the thing we want the most is the absolute worst thing that can happen to us.
What You’ll Like About The Cinderella Plot
The story is solid. Whether you’re sixteen or an older adult, you’ll enjoy this book. One thing we never forget is our awkward teenage years, so like me, you may see yourself in the main characters.
It’s a rom-com with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. And maybe a few moments where you shout, “Wake up, Paisley, and see what’s in front of you.” I’m not saying I did that, of course.
The characters are multi-dimensional and relatable. Even though they were high school students, I could still relate to their situations. The setting may change, but most people want to be accepted and loved, and sometimes we go too far in seeking acceptance from the “right crowd.” In the end, the “right crowd” will always be the people who accept you as you are.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed The Cinderella Plot. Pepper Basham is so exceptional. She can write historical, contemporary, and now YA. Get your copy today and sit back and enjoy this fabulous story.
