The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt by K.E. Ganshert is the first book in an intriguing new YA series. You will not want to put it down. And there is good news. Ganshert plans to release the two remaining books this year, so you won’t have to wait long to see how everything turns out.
What I Liked About The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt
First, I’m a huge fan of dystopian society stories, even though they target usually young adults. If the story is good, then I forget that the characters are high-school or college age. The first chapter hooked me.
Second, I can see how the storyline could be possible. This book does a great job of showing how creators of technology generally have good intentions. But once the technology gets into the wrong hands then unspeakable evil can be unleashed.
Third, The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is a story about good versus evil. The heroine is fighting the forces of darkness, and she’s determined to stop the evil no matter what it costs her personally. Her protector, Cass, is a tortured soul, who has trouble seeing his own goodness because of one terrible act he committed.
Finally, I think the characters, all of them, are interesting, and likable (except for the bad guy, of course). The adults are sympathetic and sacrificial, which indicates they are good parents and good people. You’ll root for the good guys to prevail.
What You’ll Like About The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt
If you like post-apocalyptic stories, you’ll enjoy this story. If you’re into action and suspense, you’ll find it in vast quantities. Also, if you like strong male and female characters, you’ll like Eden and Cass. There is a romantic thread developing between the two main characters, but it isn’t the primary story.
Final Thoughts
This does have a cliffhanger ending, so don’t expect the mystery to be resolved at the end. If you need instant gratification, you won’t find it here. I’m totally hooked and can’t wait for book two’s release.
A final word – The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is not a Christian fiction YA book, but there isn’t anything objectionable in it.
