The Highland Heist by Pepper Basham is a delightful story featuring Freddie and Grace in another sleuthing adventure.
What I Liked About The Highland Heist by Pepper Basham
Pepper Basham, I’m convinced, cannot write a bad book. She creates the most wonderful characters, intersperses copious amounts of humor, and provides a lovely, not in your face, faith message.
This is the fourth book in the Freddie and Grace series, and I so hope there will be more. This time the amateur sleuthers begin their mystery solving adventure in America before moving to Scottland. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the novel is how Freddie has accepted his fate as a crime solver and now seems eager to jump into the fray. Grace, of course, is her indomitable self–a mixture of naivete and a strong sense of justice. In The Cairo Curse, the couple adopted a little girl named Zayra. She is a delight and seeing her become a part of her parents’ adventures offers some stellar reactions from Freddie.
You’ll find out who the villains are about mid-way through the book, but how the dynamic duo takes care of the sorry lot is humorous and action-packed.
What You’ll Like About The Highland Heist
If you liked the three previous books, you’ll adore this one. Basham had me laughing out loud and a little misty-eyed a time or two. It’s just what you’ll expect from the series.
Grace’s sister, Lillias, plays an important role in this story. I liked her better at the end, but Lillias is not a warm and fuzzy person. Readers can only hope she learned her lesson this time.
Stephen Blake makes an appearance, and he is quite adorable. You know he’s got a story and perhaps Basham will give us more of him in future installments. Please, let there be more installments.
Final Thoughts
The mystery wraps up nicely and readers will surely love this couple even more after they finish The Highland Heist. It’s a quick read because it’s so entertaining.
