The Long Way Back to You

The Long Way Back to You by Heidi McCahan is such a good story. It’s the second novel in the Welcome to Redemption, Alaska series.

What I Liked About The Long Way Back to You by Heidi McCahan

Luke McGuire. That’s all I need to say about why I liked this book. He is a swoon-worthy hero. If you’ve read The Other Side of Goodbye, you’ve met Luke already. I’ve been waiting for his story, and it didn’t disappoint. Emma Carlisle is a former Redemption resident who broke Luke’s heart when she left years ago. When she returns, circumstances bring them together again.

Luke is a solid guy, loyal, and willing to put past hurts aside to help someone out. He cares about his family and about Emma. Emma has worked hard to overcome her past, but lost herself along the way. One of the best parts of the story is her rediscovery of what matters most. I liked these characters and wanted them not only to reunite but to win.

Luke and Emma’s romance is tender and sweet, and the faith element is well done. It’s not in your face, but it’s powerful.

What You’ll Like About The Long Way Back to You

If you like romance, you’ll find it here. In some ways, even though they have a past, it’s a slow-burn romance. Both are trying not to rekindle old feelings, but of course they don’t do a good job of it.

The story is also about family. Doing things to help keep family dreams alive and also about family healing where fractures have occurred. The scene with Emma and her father is very touching.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed this novel. It has everything a person who loves romance would want in a story. The characters are likeable and believable. I’m becoming a solid fan of McCahan’s writing and look forward to reading her next Redemption, Alaska story.
