Under the Mistletoe by Tari Faris takes readers back to the lovely town of Heritage, where people care about one another.
What I Liked About Under the Mistletoe by Tari Faris
I could relate to Logan’s struggle to produce a novel. I’ve worked like crazy to write a book that editors love, and have yet to succeed. So, I could definitely identify with his frustration, disappointment, and creative block. I also could identify with his personal struggles with always feeling like he was the second choice. The one not quite good enough for anyone to love. Whew! That got personal.
Devin too had struggles with not being important enough for the people who should love her. I wanted to have a serious talk with her parents. Despite what amounted to emotional neglect, she was a loving, giving person who had a heart of gold. You wanted things to work out for her.
The story falls into the unrequited love category since both the hero and heroine loved the other, but both believed they weren’t loved. There may have been a time or two I wanted to grab Logan by the shoulders and give him a good shake. Still, you had to love his heart, especially with the Wallis kids.
What You’ll Like About Under the Mistletoe
The couple aren’t exactly star-crossed, but they have a lot of stuff to overcome to be together. So, if you like stories where the main characters must overcome seemingly unsolvable odds, you’ll like this book.
The romance is clean. There are a few kissing scenes that might fog up the windows, but nothing unwholesome happens. The romance seemed realistic and not rushed since they had known one another for many years.
The faith message was powerful but not preachy. We all need reminding that we really can’t do very much in our own strength, but for believers we have the ultimate power behind us, and if God is for us, nothing will get in the way.
Final Thoughts
I’ve enjoyed the entire series, and this is another entertaining installment.
