You’re the Reason by Tari Faris and Susan May Warren introduces a new series set in Faris’s story world of Heritage, Michigan. If you’ve read Faris’s Restoring Heritage series, then you’ll be familiar with the setting and some of the secondary characters. You don’t need to read the first series to enjoy this new story.
What I Liked About You’re the Reason by Tari Faris
One of the things I’ve noticed of late with many of the books published by Sunrise Publishing is that Susan May Warren isn’t afraid to allow the authors to take on grittier topics. In You’re the Reason, the hero, Seth Warner, is a recovering drug addict. I liked Seth. He’d learned from his mistakes, overcome a terrible childhood, and had determination to stay clean. Faris creates a powerful scene when Seth has a devastating blow and wants nothing more than to take a hit. He doesn’t, but his struggle was very realistic.
Overall, I liked the characters. Grace Howell took a little longer to like than Seth, but her story arc was good. She learned what mattered most to her and learned how to stand up to her over-bearing parents who treated her like she was still a child.
I’d describe You’re the Reason as a reunion story since the characters have known each other in the past. It’s a sweet story that tugs at your heart at times.
What You’ll Like About You’re the Reason
I think if you’re already a Tari Faris fan, you’ll enjoy this book. I hadn’t read anything by Faris before and I liked her writing.
If you like sweet romances, you’ll find this satisfying.
Finally, if like me, you enjoy books that deal with grittier life situations then this will surely be a winner for you.
Final Thoughts
If you’re new to Faris like I was, don’t fret about entering her Heritage world. No part of the book involved anything that you had to know about the secondary characters for this book to make sense. The book did pique my curiosity, so I’d like to go back and read the Restoring Heritage series, which is a good thing. It says I enjoyed my first read by Faris well enough to want to invest more time in her books.
